Bellator 170 took place at The Forum in Inglewood, California tonight. The main event featured MMA legend Tito Ortiz (@TitoOrtiz) taking on Chael Sonnen (@ChaelSonnen).

The fight was set to be the last one for Ortiz and a win would send him riding off into the sunset. As soon as the opening bell rang Ortiz was looking to get Sonnen to the mat, and he was successful. Sonnen was able to reverse the position and work for an anaconda choke, but eventually gave it up and opted to go for a guillotine from half guard. The submission looked tight at one point, but Ortiz was able to free himself. Once on top he got to full mount and dropped a few elbows which forced Sonnen to give up his back and then Ortiz began to work for the rear naked choke. He didn’t secure it completely under Sonnen’s chin, but he was able to torque it enough to force the tap.

With the win Ortiz ended a storied and entertaining career. He was one of the first superstars of MMA, and although he hit a skid in his tenure with the UFC he was able to find success in the Bellator cage. He wont three of his last four bouts with his only loss coming in a bid for the Bellator light heavyweight championship against Liam McGeary (@Liam_McGeary).

Paul Daley celebrates big KO

In the co-main event Paul Daley faced Brennan Ward (@SwaggleBerryFin) and this one became an early candidate for knockout of the year. Ward was holding his own with Daley on the feet, but it wasn’t long before “Semtex” dropped the hammer. A spinning elbow from Daley stunned Ward, and a flying knee put him down for good. It was a highlight reel finish for Daley and a great way to rebound from his decision loss to Douglas Lima (@PhenomLima) at Bellator 158. Daley has now won eight of his last 10 fights with seven of those wins coming by (T)KO.

The other three fights on the main card all went the distance. Hisaki Kato (@HisakiAlive) was able to take home a unanimous decision win over Ralek Gracie (@RalekGracie). Emmanuel Sanchez (@ElMatador145)  defeated Georgi Karakhanyan (@GeorgiMMA) by majority decision and Derek Campos (@DC3Stallion) defeated Derek Anderson by unanimous decision.
