Cotto vs. Kirkland Cancelled

The fight between Miguel Cotto (@RealMiguelCotto) and James Kirkland that was set to headline the HBO Boxing PPV on February 25 in Frisco, Texas has been cancelled.

Roc Nation Sports made the announcement after receiving news that Kirkland would not be able to fight after suffering a broken nose in training. The entire fight card has been scrapped, and it doesn’t seem that it will be rescheduled.

ESPN reported the cancellation of the bout first. They confirmed with Kirkland’s manager Michael Miller that Kirkland injured his nose sparring this past Friday.

Both Cotto and Kirkland were going to be back in the ring for the first time since losing to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. The 36 year old Cotto had stated that he planned on retiring at the end of this year. It should be interesting to see who these two end up fighting next as it doesn’t seem it will be against each other.
