Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans (@SugaRashadEvans) will make his middleweight debut at UFC 209 against Dan Kelly (@DanKellyJudo).
Evans was originally scheduled to make his middleweight debut in November, but an undisclosed irregularity was found during his pre-fight medical. Evans won the UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 92 against Forrest Griffin, but he would lose the title his next fight to Lyoto Machida at UFC 98. He challenged Jon Jones for the title at UFC 145, but lost a unanimous decision. Injuries have kept Evans on the sidelines for long stretches of time, having only fought twice in the last three years. He will be looking to snap a two fight losing streak when he makes his middleweight debut.
Australia’s Dan Kelly has only tasted defeat once in his career, and he will enter the bout against Evans on a three fight wins streak. His latest being a unanimous decision over Chris Camozzi at UFC Fight Night 101.
UFC 209 will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada on March 4, 2017. The main event will feature a welterweight title fight between current champion Tyrone Woodley and Stephen Thompson. The fight will be a re-match from their UFC 205 title that ended in a draw.
The UFC interim lightweight title will also be up for grabs as Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson meet in the co-main event.
